Doors Painted

If you are painting and you want it to look old...or stay looking old, don't over think it. Step 1 is get out the drop cloth.  There's no way I want turquoise paint on those awesome wood floors!  Step 2 is always preparation. I scrapped all the loose paint, cleaned all the dirt and BBQ smoke from the restaurant across the street off and then I ran a sander quickly over the door just to smooth things out. Step 3 would be tape the surfaces you need to protect.  I skipped this step. ..this time.  On doors you always start with the inside and outside edges so they can have the longest drying time. There is really ni reason ti paint the top and bottom edges.  Next hint is paint with the grain of the wood. My ugly green doors look fantastic turquoise! I don't think I'll paint the door jam or window boxes.  As of now I like it old and peeling!
